Super light easy to carryvery sleek car seat, the base is super easy to install and it’s sturdy.the only downside is this car seat doesn’t fit in other strollers without an adapter and even with the adapter it only fits in a few strollers that aren’t uppababy and the uppa baby strollers are pretty priceyI really wish I could give this seat 5 stars. I love the UPPAbaby product line. We have the Vista stroller and it's been nothing but a dream. That's a 5 star review. But this car seat needs a few improvements before I can give it an honest 5 stars.First I'll start with what I love about it. I love that it clips seamlessly with the Vista travel system. I love how easy it is to install, it's darn near fool-proof. Most of all I love the no rethread harness. Babies grow so much in the first six months, I'd hate to be constantly having to rethread the harness for each inch they grow in length. I also love how visually appealing the car seat is, there's no garish prints. It's just basic grey and black. Now here's what I don't like: When I pay for what I consider to be a luxury item, I expect either impeccable craftsmanship or excellent customer service. Ideally both (which is why I love things at Costco because they usually fit into both of these categories). If the craftsmanship is perfect, there's no reason to call customer service usually. Or, if the craftsmanship isn't perfect, great customer service can make up for some poor design. The UPPAbaby Mesa, frankly, looks cheap. The plastic has obvious areas where it was melted together or formed; but the worst part is that the cover exposes styrofoam. You can see in the pictures I've posted. At almost all times styrofoam is clearly visible. It's difficult to tuck back down. I worry about when my baby can grab, pinch and rip at it. He loves tearing apart stuff. Exposing it to the elements also degrades the styrofoam over time. But it really just looks tacky. I expect much more from a $300 car seat. Maybe this doesn't bother you, but it's really bothersome to me.I contacted customer service about this. They told me it wasn't a safety issue, and to sod off, basically. They refused to contact me again and my emails and Facebook messages went unanswered. The could have at least apologized, offered a fix or something. But they were most unapologetic and unrepentant for this strange design flaw. This bothers me. A lot. They don't stand behind their product, and it shows because it looks so cheap.I really wish I would have got another car seat with a no rethread harness. There are several out there that you can get the UPPAbaby adapter for. The Graco Snugride is one of them, and it's much cheaper and honestly aesthetically looks about the same as the UPPA. I didn't want to have the adapter on our Vista though. Another option is to use a convertible seat right from the get go and baby wear. My son's Graco 4Ever has a no rethread harness and works great.Which brings me to another issue. The UPPAbaby Mesa is really hard to tighten. I had to use all my strength each time I adjusted the straps, and if you're not careful, the plastic component that secures the adjusting cord will pop out of the base unit if you pull up at all. It pops back in, but it's still a design flaw and it scared me the first time this happened. I never realized how tough it was to tighten the straps on the Mesa until we switched to the 4Ever and I tightened the straps for the first time. Almost NO effort!I'm honestly not looking forward to having to use the Mesa for our other kids if and when they come. I wish I would have gotten a Graco or maybe a Peg Perego if I wanted something high end. I'm extremely disappointed in this car seat. I feel like I'm an outlier though, because most everyone else loves it. So I could be just that one lone person who is whining about nothing. But if you feel like my experience would bother you, save your money and don't get this car seat. I wish I could go back and get something else.My grand-daughter head tilted all the time and this carriage is WonderfulWe use two of these, one for each car. Before we bought the second one it only took 3 minutes to transfer to the other car it is so easy to install in a car.Our baby is due in the next 8 weeks, so haven't tested it out with baby yet, but installation of this car seat was a breeze. It was installed in a 2006 Ford Escape. I had an employee show me at BuyBuyBaby and decided to buy on Amazon with a giftcard. I originally was going to purchase the City Go carseat/travel system and the employee demonstrated that this seat had a much easier install. The latch system could not be easier to install in the car, and it is easy to apply pressure to the base and see if the levelers indicate green/level. Base install takes less than two minutes. Seat is stylish and clicks in and out of base with ease, and in and out of our City Mini GT stroller with the adapter we purchased. I also read some of the below reviews and do not notice the sun shade rubbing against the handle. The handle can clear the sunshade and be moved up or down. Perhaps UppaBaby has improved that previous issue. Very pleased with purchase. Box was also easy to breakdown and place in recycle bin, and did not come with too much extra packaging/styrofoam to throw away. Direction pamphlets were provided in English and Spanish and directions wer clear. They (UppaBaby) also extend your warranty an extra 6 months if you register the carseat with the pre-paid postcard or online. This car seat is absolutely everything!! I love it! I can’t give it enough stars! I used it with my first child and now I’m using it for my second. Uppababy is such an amazing brand!! I’ll always stand by them!! Especially when it comes to my child’s safety.Ordered as a backup car seat so that our family has two.
